Basic Skills Class

Let's take all those things you've likely already started teaching...
Maybe your dog does these things but only for a second, or only until they get the cookie and then they get back up...
Sit
Down
Come / Here
Place
Wait
Heel
Let's Go
Out / Leave It

And let's teach you how to make them reliable.
Have a dog that will hold the command for a duration of time.
Can perform with Distractions.
And can maintain it even with distance.

How many Classes?

Package of 6 Classes to be used within 3 months of your start date.
Attendance does not need to be in consecutive weeks.
I understand life happens and this time frame allows for a missed class here and there and still be able to attend 6 classes within a 3 month time frame.
Every Class will go over how to teach each skill and how to advance where your at if your farther along with your dog.

Where / When?

Pet Food Express (Roseville) in the Fountains Shopping Center, behind the Whole Foods.
7:30-8:30pm on Thursdays

Pre-requisits:

  • In Person Consult / Lesson
    • Puppies Graduating from our Puppy Preschool class who join this class within a month of graduating are exempt from needing a consult.
    • Consult will be held in public either at the Fountains in Roseville, or at a local park like Maidu or Veterans Memorial to determine if your dog is ready for a group class environment with other dogs, or wether a different training plan would be a better fit.
    • Young Dogs under 1 year old are best suited for this class.
    • Consults are required for Basic Skills class to make sure your dog is ready for a class environment & to get you started so you are prepared and have some foundation on your 1st day.
      • The 1st day of class can be overwhelming for dogs (no direction, guidance, and in a distracting environment)
      • 1st Day of class can also be overwhelming for the owner (Trying to listen and learn, with a dog who is often a bit unruly pulling on the leash etc.) For most owners the 1st day of class can be frustrating, even embarrassing more than it is productive.
      •  By having 1 on 1 time with the trainer before starting in a group environment, I get to work with you and your dog so you come into class with a base level of knowledge of what your dog needs to be successful in a distracting environment. You can have confidence and control on your 1st day!  Allowing you to get the most out of the class.
  • This Class is NOT for dogs who bark or lunge at dogs AND / OR people.
    • If your dog needs help in this area I am happy to help you but this is not an appropriate environment to work on those behaviors.

Coaching support - Because Group just doesn't cut it

Every dog and Owner are individuals and each learns a little bit differently and teaching to a group doesn't allow for enough individual coaching.
I do my best to explain how each skill your learning can be applied to daily life.
There is so much more to living with your dog than obedience commands.
It is up to you to put in the time outside of class to be working with your dog and advancing their skillset.
Class is for YOU to learn, Home is where your dog is really learning.
During your Enrollment in this class you will have access to an Online Classroom.
